Prop-23 Wording Issues 10/29/10 4pm TDH

California Proposition 23 results are being questioned, even before regular voting begins.   A state judge had ordered certain descriptions of the proposition to be changed, however thousands of ballots in Fresno and contra Costa county were printed with the barred language.      A judge ordered the words “major polluters” to “major sources of emissions,” and ordered changes to language describing that prop 23 would “suspend air pollution control laws.” Prop 23 would only suspend California’s Global Warming Solutions Act, which imposes increased limits on certain businesses that emit carbon dioxide.     County elections officials say it’s too late to re-print the ballots, and say they will post signs with the correct wording at polling places.   However, that might not stop the results from being challenged after the election.
