Engineers are making progress on rebuilding Highway 1 (over the site of the quarter-mile long Mud Creek landslide….that changed the shape of the California coastline). On May 20th, more than 5 million cubic yards of rock and dirt came down the hillside south of the town of Gorda in Monterey county. Cal-Trans Planners hope to have the scenic coastal roadway re-opened by late next summer.
