A preliminary hearing is being held to determine if 2 men will be ordered to stand trial in connection with a fatal drive-by shooting that took place in Watsonville back in 2011. 26 year-old Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Chavez (who was arrested in Mexico in 2013, and extradited back to Santa Cruz), and 23 year-old Cesar Rosales have been charged in the death of 18 year-old Prunedale resident Gustavo Diaz Zaragoza. Zaragoza was walking in a Watsonville parking lot (with his girlfriend) when the shooting occurred. She suffered a non-life-threatening wound to her elbow in the incident. A video from the store’s surveillance camera shows Rosales and Rodriguez-Chavez driving by and shooting.
