SAN LORENZO VALLEY WATER DISTRICT BOARD MEMBERS ARE DISCUSSING THE POSSIBILITY OF SEEKING A WATER RATE INCREASE TO MAKE UP FOR 2 CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF OPERATING AS A LOSS. ACCORDING TO THE MOST RECENT AUDIT, THE DISTRICT SPENT 4.2 MILLION DOLLARS, BUT BROUGHT IN ONLY 4 MILLION DOLLARS, WHILE THE COMPANY’S WATER TANKS, TREATMENT FACILITIES, PIPELINES AND OTHER INFRASTRUCTURE HAS DEPRECIATED IN VALUE.
THE BOARD IS EXPECTED TO REVISIT THE IDEA OF A POSSIBLE RATE HIKE AT IT’S MEETING 1 WEEK FROM TONIGHT (THURSDAY FEBRUARY 17TH). THAT MEETING IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN AT 7:30 P.M. IN THE WATER DISTRICT OFFICE ON HIGHWAY 9 IN BOULDER CREEK.
