180,000 Pacific Gas and Electric customers could potentially lose their electricity this week.
The utility warned of this potential Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) as weather conditions could be warm and windy by Wednesday, making for dry land and a climate favorable for fires.
If this PSPS were to occur, the scope of who is affected would reportedly be similar to the previous shutoff event.
Some of the Counties included in this potential PSPS are: San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sonoma, San Benito, and San Joaquin.
As this is an “elevated” PSPS event, PG&E is monitoring weather conditions, but has not finalized any plans for any shutoffs at this time.
