Paid parking is being considered in some areas of the city of Carmel. To that end information is being gathered to determine what the best alter natives will be. Monterey has already instituted paid parking, and pacific grove is considering it as well.
Although paid parking has been tried before Carmel….in pilot programs back in 2002 and 2014, one of the issue was bulky payment machines that didn’t match the character of the area…..and that is definitely not an issue any more because of the number of choices in technology that could be used, including sensors under the pavement and people being able to pay for parking via apps on their phones, etc.
