Dr. Wallach starts todays show discussing rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.  Asserting that rheumatiod arthritis is actually caused by a single celled organism called mycoplasma.  While osteoarthritis is a mineral deficiency disease.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach continue discussing rheumatoid arthritis.  A recent study has indicated that those with rheumatoid arthriits have an increased risk of heart disease and stroke when compared to those who are RA negative.  Tthe researchers theorize the inflammation associtated with RA is one possible cause.  Dr. Wallach disagrees contending the research regarding mycoplasma is more than 30 years old.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing a recent report that energy drinks can be bad for those with heart disease.  Doc explains the reason is the huge amounts of caffeine in these energy drinks.  Asserting that the jittery feelings people get after consuming the drinks is actually caffeine poison.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent report that found a huge increase in drugs prescribed to children.  The report presented at a meeting of the American Public Health Association stated that in a four year time frame there was a 166% increase in prescriptions for diabetes drugs in girls 10 to 14.  There were also increases in prescriptions for blood pressure, cholesterol, asthma and drepression medications.

Doug  Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two recent news stories.  The first concerns a research study recently presented at a scientific session of the American Heart Association.  The study found women ages 35 to 55 who took oral contraceptives for 13 years or longer had an increased risk of stroke and heart attack years after stopping the medication.  Second Doug and Doc discuss a government report that has found 80% or more of fish consumed in the U.S. is imported.  Unfortunatley, less that 1% of that fish is inspected by the FDA.  Of the fish that is inspected the FDA finds the fish to be unhealthy and full of banned chemicals.
