Dr. Wallach discusses the death of a famous body builder Mickey Hargitay from multiple myloma.  Doc outlines that this type of myloma is due to nutritional deficiencies.  Asserting that although many body builders do supplement they still don't get all 90 essential nutrients found in Yougevity's Pig Pack.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Asscociation.  This Swedish study followed women for an average of 15 years collecting data on their diet, drinking habits, weight, height and education.  The study found that women who consumed one or more fatty fish (salmon, herring, cod and mackeral) per week had a 44 to 74% lower risk of getting kidney cancer.

Nurse Joanne Conaway fills in for Dr. Wallach.  Joanne begins the show discussing gall bladder removal.  Asserting that many doctors would have patients believe that it is an organ that is not necessary.  Joanne outlines the importance of the gall bladder in breaking down fats taken into the body.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and nurse Joanne Conaway discuss a recent news article regard a study published in the British journal Lancet Oncology.  The study found that women 45 and younger  who have healthy ovaries removed during a hysterectomy and do not go on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) are twice as likely to die during the study period than those who still have ovaries.  For the first time gynecological surgeons are starting to re-think the theory of removing health ovaries as a preventative measure to avoid ovarian cancer.

Dr. Wallach starts the show discussing the recent problem of ecoli in fresh spinich.  Outlining the various ways ecoli can get into the food chain.  Also contending that although ecoli comes from animal waste.  It is more commonly found in fruits and vegatables than in meats contaminating through fertilizers.  With another contributing factor being the fact that most people don't properly wash their fresh vegatables.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a recent survey regarding hand washing.  The survey sponsored by the "Soap and Detergent Association" found that many people don't wash their hands often enough throughout the day.  Also most don't wash their hands long enough to properly remove dirt and germs.  The CDC recommends that people scrub for 20 seconds or longer.  The survey found most Americans if the wash at all wash less than 20 seconds.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of recent news articles.  The first concerns a woman who went to the ER (emergency room) with classic heart attack symptoms.  But waited nearly two hours to see a doctor and died in the waiting room.  The second article is about premature infants that were killed in a hospital after receiving adult doses of the blood thinner Heparin.
