Monologue

Dr. Wallach starts the show mentioning the recent swings in the stock market.  Contending that the audience shouldn't wait until their retirement plan crashes but should be proactive.  Asserting that now is a great time to start a home-based business to offset the plunging stock martket.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss two news articles concerning prescription drugs.  The first is a growing trend of doctors stopping the practice of giving samples to patients.  Evidence is mounting that although the sample is free it is usually a more expensive brand-name drug.  So once the patient runs out of the sample they are actually paying more in the long run.  The second article concerns a study that found generic cardiovascular drugs work just as well as the more expensive brand-name drugs.

Stream Live from our website:
Download from our website: Download this Podcast here The following is a KSCO commentary. Here is Kay Zwerling.I don?t know where this came from. Probably on the Internet, but my friend Marcia sent it to me. It’s all about the explanation of life. If you want to know about life, here it is on a laminated card, and this is what it says: On the first day, God created the dog. God said, Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes by and I’ll give you a lifespan of twenty years. The dog said, That’s too long to be barking. Give me ten years & I’ll give You the other ten back, and God agreed. On the second day, God created the monkey, and God said, Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I’ll give you a twenty-year lifespan. The monkey said, How boring. Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don’t think so. The dog gave You back ten, so that’s what I’d like to do, too, OK? and God agreed. On the third day, God created the cow. God said, You must go out in the field with the farmer all day long, suffer under the sun, have calves, give milk to support the farmer. I’m going to give you a lifespan of sixty years. The cow said, That’s kind of a tough life You want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I’ll give You back the other forty. And, God agreed. On the fourth day, God created man. God said, Eat, sleep, play, marry, enjoy your life. I’ll give you twenty years. Man said, What? Only twenty years? I’ll tell You what, I’ll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave You back, the ten the monkey gave You back, and the ten the dog gave You back. That makes eighty years, OK? OK, God said. You’ve got a deal. So, that’s why the first twenty years of our lives we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren, and for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everybody that goes by. You?ve just had life explained to you.For KSCO, this is Kay Zwerling. copyright 2008
