THE CITY OF WATSONVILLE IS SCHEDULED TO TRY A NEW TECHNIQUE TO BRING DOWN THE NUMBERS OF CARP IN PINTO LAKE. BEGINNING IN APRIL THE CITY WILL START ELECTRO-FISHING CARP IN THE 8-THOUSAND YEAR OLD LAKE. THE GOAL IS TO BRING DOWN THE NUMBERS OF CARP BY TWO THIRDS IN AN EFFORT TO CONTROL TOXIC BACTERIA LEVELS RELATED TO CARP POPULATION. ELECTRO-FISHING IS CONSIDERED 1 OF THE SAFEST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY WAYS TO SELECTIVELY FISH DIFFERENT SPECIES.
