A construction crew in morgan hill accidentally severed a fiber-optic cable monday morning, causing phone and internet outages for verizon customers throughout the city. the cable was cut by a crew working on the butterfield boulevard extension project (near monterey road). 9-1-1 service was still accessible in morgan hill throughout the day. Crews from Verizon fixed the connection problem, and service was restored at about 4:30 p.m. work crews are expected to return as soon as next week, to make a permanent repair. service is not expected to be disrupted during that operation.
