The Pacific Grove City Council voted to enact an initiative that would cap city contributions to employee pension benefits at 10 percent of the workers salaries. Union and state Public Employee Retirement System officials warned the city that it could face lawsuits if the required contributions are not made. Under the new initiative, employees can pay additional amounts toward their retirement out of their own pockets.
