Although the company has filed for bankruptcy, Pacific Gas & Electric Corp. is seeking a judge’s approval to pay $235 million in bonuses to thousands of employees for job performance in 2019.
The company said the money is supposed to create incentives for workers and will not be distributed if the company doesn’t meet safety and financial goals. In a Wednesday court filing, PG&E said the bonus program has been restructured to place a greater emphasis on safety performance.
PG&E filed for bankruptcy in January in the face of billions of dollars in potential liability from the huge California wildfires.
