Fines have now been issued for violations relating to the 2018 pesticide exposure that sickened 6 adults and 7 children in the Salinas area. The October incident occurred when a pest control company conducted soil fumigation to 16 acres of strawberry beds. The pesticide company was found to have failed to follow Restricted Material Permit conditions, and also failed to perform pest control in a careful and effective manner.
