Congressman Jimmy Panetta introduced legislation yesterday to pave the way for more private funding for ocean study and help strengthen the “national oceano-graphic partnership program.”
In its 20-year history, the national oceano-graphic partnership has funded more than 200 projects concerning ocean conservation… some of them involving u-c santa cruz and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
According to Panetta, the National Oceano-graphic partnership is both under-used and under funded and has been struggling these last two years without funding.
