Officials with santa cruz county flood control have approved a project to clear the pajaro river of sediment. The excavation project calls for removing about 320-thousand cubic yards of dirt (over 2-years). The first phase of the 8-point-3 million dollar project will involve removing about 140-thousand cubic pounds of dirt, starting near main street bridge and working west. The project now goes to the bidding process. A contractor is expected to be chosen by june 18th.
