THIS WEEK MARKED THE BEGINNING OF THE PAJARO RIVER FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT.  THE PROJECT WILL REMOVE 320 THOUSAND CUBIC YARDS OF DIRT FROM THE RIVER TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FLOODING.  PHASE ONE OF THE PROJECT, WHICH WILL WORK IN THE AREA BETWEEN HIGHWAY ONE AND SALSIPUEDES CREEK, IS EXPECTED TO RUN UNTIL MID OCTOBER.  THE SECOND PHASE, STARTING NEXT SPRING, WILL WORK FURTHER ON PHASE ONE’S WORK, TO MURPHY CROSSING ROAD.

DURING THE PROJECT, MOTORISTS CAN EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS ON JUDD ROAD, RIVERSIDE DRIVE, LEE ROAD, BEACH STREET, AND SAN ANDREAS ROAD AS TRUCKS MOVE THE EXCESS DIRT TO THE LANDFILL ON SAN ANDREAS ROAD.
