A Coastal Permit has been approved for the Pacific Station Redevelopment project. The permit was approved by the Santa Cruz Zoning Administrator. The project includes the demolition of the current Metro station at 920 Pacific Avenue (as well as 2 other non-residential buildings) in Santa Cruz….and then the construction of a 7-story mixed-use apartment building, and a new Metro station. The apartment building would include 94 “affordable” housing units, however, that development would also eliminate 16 parking spaces in the downtown area.
Along with the 94 housing units, the project includes: 1st and 2nd floor retail and office space, as well as public and residential bicycle parking…..but apparently no parking space for cars (and other 4-wheeled vehicles). It’s also unclear where Metro would function out of while the current Metro station is demolished and the new one is constructed.
