A SCAM IN PACIFIC GROVE THIS WEEK HAS P-G-AND-E WARNING CUSTOMERS OF CALLERS CLAIMING TO BE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES. A RESTAURANT OWNER REPORTED HE WAS CALLED AND TOLD UNLESS HE PAID ONE-THOUSAND DOLLARS, HIS BUSINESS’S ELECTRICITY WILL BE TURNED OFF. THE OWNER PAID OVER THE PHONE WITH A CASH CARD. A CALL TO THE COMPANY AFTERWARD CONFIRMED HE WAS CURRENT AND DID NOT OWE MONEY. P-G-AND-E REMINDS CUSTOMERS THAT THEIR COMPANY NEVER THREATENS TO SHUT OFF ELECTRICITY AND NEVER ASKS FOR PAYMENT OVER THE PHONE.
