A Pacific Gas & Electric lineman apprentice was killed Saturday afternoon while working in the vicinity of the Carr Fire. The employee was identified as Jairus Ayeta, A spokesperson for PG&E says he sustained fatal injuries in a vehicle-related accident on the western edge of the Carr Fire in Shasta County. As of Sunday morning, the fire has burned 154,524 acres and is 41 percent contained.
