Monterey County’s Board of Supervisors voted to allow limited outdoor commercial marijuana growth. The vote split 3-2 on whether to direct staff to draft rules regulating the outdoor growth. Proponents say the move could bring in more tax revenue and legalize what growers are already doing. Opponents say it could have adverse environmental impacts and stress out enforcement agencies that work with limited resources. Monterey County allows commercial cannabis growth in greenhouses, warehouses and industrial buildings.
