Children in Davenport were able to sleep in this morning as the result of the closure of Pacific Elementary School today. High winds and power outages caused the school to call for a closure this morning. Other Santa Cruz county residents have also been experiencing a lack of power. Nearly 1000 residents, many in the Santa Cruz Mountains, had no power this morning, though PG&E crews have been working to reduce that to a few hundred, and numbers continue to drop. The cause has not been listed, but could be due to the unusually strong winds being experienced along the central coast today.
