First Responders were practicing how to do oil containment today. The practice session was held in the Elkhorn Slough, where the long lines of the yellow containment boom could be seen. The material soaks up petroleum-based products, while repelling water; and trainees were in the Elkhorn Slough so that they could learn how to work the equipment in a sensitive area, while still being in a more controllable environment than the open ocean.
