(06:53) SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A trial date has been set for a Soquel man accused of murder. In 2011, 32-year-old Eric Weers allegedly drove into oncoming traffic on Highway 17 and intentionally crashed into a car being driven by 48-year-old Ana Barajas. The case was delayed while the court worked to replace a forensic psychologist to evaluate the defendant’s mental health. Jury selection for the trial is expected to begin on November 3 with opening statements coming as soon as November 16. Weers faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted. (S.G.)
