(17:52) SALINAS- The Monterey County Jail has implemented a series of upgrades. The changes were brought about by a 2013 lawsuit that alleged the jail was violent, unconstitutional and lacked basic American Disabilities Act protections. The upgrades included more bars on the second level of “pods,” preventing inmates from jumping down onto the first floor, additional and replacement of security cameras as well as different vent covers to prevent inmate suicides.
