(07:18) APTOS – A man and a woman were arrested in Aptos Thursday night on suspicion of armed robbery. Deputies were dispatched to the Safeway at the Rancho Del Mar Shopping Center following a report of theft. On scene, deputies learned that a man and a woman stole a victim’s cellphone at knifepoint when she attempted to report them for shoplifting. Both suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. Shortly after, deputies discovered that the suspect vehicle had crashed on southbound Highway 1 at Riverside Road. The car’s two occupants, 20-year-old Christopher Rodriguez and 18-year-old Alexis Hernandez, were apprehended. Both were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail. (S.G.)
