(06:00) SANTA CRUZ – A street in Santa Cruz was closed early Saturday morning while police investigated a suspicious odor. The smell was reported on the 100 block of Leibrandt Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. Arriving officers closed off the 100 block of Holden Street near Leibrandt and traced the smell to a vacant home. Investigators were unable to identify the odor’s origin. The area was cleared and the roadway was reopened by 8 a.m. (S.G.)
