(07:02) SANTA CRUZ – Mission Santa Cruz was found vandalized Monday morning. Officials say red paint was splattered across the front door of the church on High Street. Police also found graffiti, accusing Saint Junipero Serra of genocide. Serra was canonized by the Pope in September. The declaration has been opposed by some who criticize Serra’s treatment of Native Americans. The incident marks the fourth time a church on the Central Coast has been defaced, following Serra’s canonization. (S.G.)
