(18:20) SC (AND AROUND THE WORLD) – On December 13th, a wave of light that will be sparked in New Zealand, is expected to spread to Santa Cruz….and around the world. The “wave of light’ is designed to be a remembrance for, and from, parents and families who have experienced the death of a child. The candle-lighting ceremony, which begins at 7 p-m in each time zone around the world, is being sponsored by The Compassionate Friends (which is a global non-profit that provides support to families who have lost a child). Attendees are welcome and encouraged to bring mementos. After lighting the main candle, 5 more candles will be lit. They represent grief, courage, memories, love and hope. From there a flame will be passed to each attendee, so they can light their individual candles.
