A man who escaped custody and eluded capture for several hours last month, appeared in court today to face 29-criminal counts. 24-year-old Maurice Ainsworth entered not guilty pleas to 4 of the charges, which include attempted murder, assault, and kidnapping. Ainsworth grabbed a deputy’s tazer, after attacking her, and fled the hospital where he was having an appointment. He barricaded himself in a nearby preschool, before fleeing, and was then taken into custody. Other than the deputy he attacked, nobody was hurt in the incident. Ainsworth remains in custody, with bail set at more that 2-point-3 million dollars. He is set to return to court on January 11th.
