Three Northern California cities have been recognized by the EPA for energy saving practices. The agency has released a report ranking the 25 metropolitan areas with the highest number of Energy Star certified buildings. San Francisco, Sacramento and San Jose were all included on the list. Together, the three cities have saved over $150 million and have reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 300,000 tons. Washington D.C. topped the list with a total of 480 Energy Star buildings.
