For the first time, the Hollister School District scheduled a teacher work day for this Friday on Halloween. This means students will not have class or the opportunity to wear their costumes to school. District administrators feel that costumes and parades are taking away valuable learning time from students, and that there are issues of fairness when some children have better costumes than others.
