A STUDY OF WEST COAST KELP FOUND NO SIGNS OF RADIATION CONTAMINATION FROM FUKUSHIMA. THE JAPANESE TSUNAMI NUCLEAR DISASTER LAUNCHED A CALIFORNIA PROJECT CALLED KELP WATCH 2014. SINCE ITS LAUNCH, SCIENTISTS HAVE COLLECTED SAMPLES OF THE SEAWEED, KNOWN FOR ITS ABSORBENCY, AND HAVE FOUND NO TRACES OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL. RESEARCHERS PLAN TO REPEAT THE STUDY TWO MORE TIMES THIS YEAR.
