No Kids In Parked Cars 07/24/19A 06:23 S.S.

Parents  and  caregivers  are  reminded  not  to  leave  children  alone  in   a  car,  or  allow  them  access  to  a  parked  car…especially  during  a  heatwave.     That’s  because  the  temperature  can  rise   nearly  20  degrees  in  just  10  minutes….and  children’s  temperature  can  rise  much  faster  than  adults  (leaving  them  prone  to  heat  stroke).

Last year  52  children  died  as  a  result of  being  left  in  a  hot  vehicle…..and  that’s  a  21  percent  increase  over  2017.

One  local  law  enforcement  agency  recommends….

  1. Making it a habit to look before your leave and lock the

car.

  1. Putting something like  a  purse,  phone, or  wallet  next  to  the  car  seat  as  a  reminder.

….and if you see a child in a hot vehicle (that appears to be in pain, or unresponsive), call 911 immediately….and  then  try to find the parents (or notify businesses in the area to use a p.a. system to alert the car owner).
