Over the weekend, California Employment Development Department announced a freeze on processing new claims for unemployment.
The pause on claims processing is due to a backlog of applicants, possible fraud, and technical issues that need fixing.
Approximately 591,000 California applicants are still waiting a decision on their unemployment claim.
The two-week pause on processing unemployment applications takes place now until October 5.
