A Salinas man pleaded “no contest” today after an 8-year old girl suffered serious injuries in a shooting 4-years ago. Abraham Cabrera was arrested a month after the January 14th 2007 incident when the girl was caught in the crossfire during a drive-by shooting between rival gangs while she was sitting in a parked car near the corner of Grandhaven Street and Williams Road in Salinas. Cabrera is slated to return to court in March and is expected to receive up to 16-years in jail for pleading to attempted murder with an enhancement of inflicting great bodily injury and a special allegation of personal use of a firearm.
