California Governor Gavin Newsom has issued a mandatory stay-at-home order seeking to ban non-essential travel by the state’s 40 million residents.

Newsom’s executive order, however, lists 16 critical infrastructure sectors that Newsom said may “continue their work because of the importance of these sectors to Californian’s health and well-being.”

These sectors are chemical, commercial facilities, communications, critical manufacturing, dams, defense industrial base, emergency services, energy, financial services, food and agriculture, government facilities, healthcare and public health, information technology, nuclear reactors, materials, and waste,

In a tweet, the Governor wrote that “Those that work in critical sectors should go to work. Grocery stores, pharmacies, banks and more will stay open. We need to meet this moment and flatten the curve together.”
