Pacific Grove School Board Members last night approved their COVID-19 safety plan during a board meeting last night. The next step – prior to the schools there reopening – is submission to the county, state, and federal health officials for approval.
The agencies will have 7 days to look over the plan and return it for changes or to grant permission for the schools to reopen.
Important changes included in the plan include isolation rooms for sick students and sending daily inspection information for parents. There are also plans for how to handle physical distancing during lunchtime, recess, and if a student needs to go to the restroom.

Only 150, of the total 314 rooms they have, are being made available to travelers, and daily housekeeping services are not available at this time. Guests can get fresh linens and other items by going to the front desk beyween 2 and 10 p.m. each day. While the Crocker Dining hall is closed, Phoebe's Cafe is open.

The ultra-cold freezer unit, that the Monterey Bay Aquarium had lent to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, has now been moved to Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. That means that along with the Moderna Vaccine, that needs to be stored at -4 degrees Fahrenheit (which a standard freezer can handle)....Mee Memorial Hospital medical staff will be able to store and administer the Pfizer vaccine, which needs to be stored at minus-94 degrees Fahrenheit. Being able to store both vaccines is expected to mean that more south Monterey county residents, especially agricultural workers will be able to get vaccinated....hopefully ahead of the March arrival of the strawberry workers coming in from Arizona.
Natividad no longer needed the Aquarium's freezer, because they had gotten their own back-ordered ultra-cold freezer.
