A 45 year-old skateboarder suffered non-life-threatening injuries in an accident with a vehicle yesterday in Santa Cruz. The accident took place around 5:35 p.m. at the intersection of Front and Laurel Streets. The skateboarder was transported to Dominican Hospital for treatment.

A new California system for tracking, scheduling, and delivering vaccines for Covid-19 have been rolled-out in 10 California counties so far. The hope is that the new system will smooth out the process that has been confusing and disjointed. People are encouraged to go to the: MyTurn.ca.gov website to sign up to get a Covid-19 vaccine.

A SALINAS GIRL HAS STARTED A CLEAN UP MISSION. 1ST GRADER JADE SCHWENINGER IS STARTING A COMMUNITY CLEAN UP. THE GARBAGE PICK UP BEGAN AS A SCHOOL PROJECT, BUT SPREAD TO A COMMUNITY EFFORT. SCHWENINGER IS HOPE TO MAKE THE CLEANUP EFFORT A CITY WIDE PROJECT.

The Ocean Protection Council has approved 15 grants. The grants total more than $8 million in Proposition 68 funds for projects that will build coastal resilience in the face of sea-level rise. These projects, which include planning, research and construction, will help safeguard public health and safety, preserve biodiversity and cultural resources, and protect public access to and along the coast.
