Naturalization Testing 02-23-21 07:21 S.S.

The  U.S. Naturalization  test  will  revert  to  the  10-question  version  of  the  past.    In  December,  28  additional  questions  were  added,  that  have  now  been  dropped.    People  also  only  need  to  get  6  of  the  10  correct  to  pass  the test,  unlike  the   change  made  in  December  that  required  people  to  answer  a  larger  number  of  questions  correctly  to  pass.    The  change  is  scheduled  to  take  place  March  1st.

Vehicle vs Skateboarder 02-23-21 07:14 S.S.

A  45  year-old  skateboarder  suffered  non-life-threatening  injuries  in  an  accident  with  a  vehicle  yesterday  in  Santa  Cruz.      The  accident  took  place  around  5:35 p.m.  at  the  intersection  of  Front  and  Laurel  Streets.      The  skateboarder  was  transported  to  Dominican  Hospital  for  treatment.

New Vacc Delivery System 02-23-21 06:57 S.S.

A  new  California  system  for  trackingscheduling,  and  delivering  vaccines  for  Covid-19  have  been  rolled-out  in  10  California  counties  so  far.     The  hope  is  that  the new  system  will  smooth  out  the  process  that  has  been  confusing  and  disjointed.   People  are  encouraged  to  go  to  the:  MyTurn.ca.gov  website to  sign  up  to  get  a  Covid-19  vaccine.

SALINAS GIRL CLEAN UP -2/22/21-1838-PMD

A SALINAS GIRL HAS STARTED A CLEAN UP MISSION.  1ST GRADER JADE SCHWENINGER IS STARTING A COMMUNITY CLEAN UP. THE GARBAGE PICK UP  BEGAN  AS A SCHOOL PROJECT, BUT SPREAD TO A COMMUNITY EFFORT. SCHWENINGER IS HOPE TO MAKE THE CLEANUP EFFORT A CITY WIDE PROJECT.

Rising Sea Grants-2/22/21-1827-PMD

The Ocean Protection Council has approved 15 grants. The grants total more than $8 million in Proposition 68 funds for projects that will build coastal resilience in the face of sea-level rise. These projects, which include planning, research and construction, will help safeguard public health and safety, preserve biodiversity and cultural resources, and protect public access to and along the coast.
