2-SB-1391 RULED CONSTITUTIONAL 02-25-21 10:58 S.S.

Due  to  the  California  Supreme  Court’s  ruling this morning,  that  SB-1391  is  constitutional,  the  man  accused  of  killing  8  year-old  Maddy  Middleton  in  Santa  Cruz,  could  be  released  from  prison  when  he  turns  25  years-old.    SB-1391,  which  went  into  effect  in  2019,  prevents  anyone  under  the  age  of  16  years  old  from  being  tried  as  an  adult.     Adrian  “A.J.”  Gonzalez  was  just  15  years-old  when  he  allegedly  rapedtortured,  and  murdered  his  young  neighbor  in  July  of  2015....before  stuffing  her  body  in  a  dumpster  at  the  apartment  complex  where  they  both  lived.    Gonzalez  remains  in  Santa  Cruz  County  Jail.

Latino Role Models Conference 02-25-21 09:59 S.S.

The  11th  Latino  Role  Models  Conference  is  scheduled  to  be  held  this  weekend.     The  free  event  was  founded  by  the  Santa  Cruz  county-based multi-service  non-profit  known  as  Senderos....which  works  to  create  successful  pathways  for  those  in  the  Latino  community  in Santa  Cruz  County.    The  virtual  event  is  scheduled  to   be  held  Saturday  from  9:30  a.m.  to  1  p-m.    Although  the event  is  free,  people  are  asked  to  register  at  Senderos.org,  or  people  can  “follow”  Senderos  on  FaceBook.

Second Suspect ID’d 02-25-21 09:37 S.S.

A  second  suspect  in  last  month’s  shooting  in  the  live  oak  area  of  Santa  Cruz  has  been  identified.  A  warrant  has  been  issued  for  29  year-old  Patrick  Diaz  in  connection  with  the  January  13th  shooting  that  took  place  on  the  2500  block  of  Soquel  Drive.   A  3rd  suspect,  who  is  currently  in  custody  on  a  separate  matter,  has  also  been  identified.   Anyone  with  information  about  the  shooting,  or  Diaz’  whereabouts  is  encouraged  to  contact  the  Santa  Cruz  County  Sheriff’s  Department

Man’s Name Identified 02-25-21 07:51 S.S.

The  man  who  was  shot  February  13th,  and  died  on  the  22nd, has  been  identified.  46  year-old  Daniel  Godinez  was  shot  at  least  twice  near  a  campsite  on  the  Pajaro  River  Levee  near  the  end  of  Walker  Street.     Anyone  with  information  about  this  fatal  shooting  is  encouraged  to  contact  is  the  Watsonville  Police  Department.

2 Wville Housing Devs 02-25-21 05:58 S.S.

Watsonville  City  Council members  have  approved  2  new  housing  developments.   They  are  the  50-unit  market-rate  apartment  complex  on  main  street  (that  is  dubbed  “The  Residence”),  and  the  53-unit  affordable  housing  complex  on   freedom  boulevard.    “The  Residence”  will  be  a  4-story  structure  with  housing  above  2-thousand  square  foot  of  retail  space.   The  freedom  boulevard  apartment  complex  will  include  two  3-story  structures.
