Gilroy Woman Charged-3/1/21-1803-PMD

A Gilroy woman is facing charges in connection with the January 6th insurrection in Washington DC. Mariposa Castro faces one count of intentionally entering or remaining in restricted grounds without lawful authority, and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. If convicted as charged Castro faces up to a year in prison.

Salinas Man Sentenced-3/1/21-1545-PMD

A Salinas man has been sentenced to prison. 48-year-old Kenneth Lee, pleaded no contest to domestic violence and threatening a witness.  The charges stem from events when Lee threatened to kill his girlfriend during an argument, according to the Monterey County District Attorney's Office. Lee was sentenced to six years in prison.

SC Trader Joes Again-3/1/21-1549-PMD

The Santa Cruz Trader Joes was the site of another confrontation on Sunday. A small number of anti-maskers with gathered outside of the business temporarily interrupting shopping routines. Santa Cruz police were on hand and no citations were issued.

Greenfield Arrests-3/1/21-1543-PMD

A Greenfield traffic stop led to two arrests on Saturday. Shortly before 11 p-m police stopped a vehicle for code violations and possible DUI. The driver, Florencio Merino Ramirez, was unlicensed and had an outstanding arrest warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. The passenger, Ismael Merino Ramirez had an outstanding murder warrant. Both men were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail.

Shakespeare SC-3/1/21-1643-PMD

Shakespeare Santa Cruz is examining the possibility of a2021 season.  If  the covid crisis permits, in June the company will be tackling one of Shakespeare most fascinating and vexing plays: Troilus & Cressida.  People can watch the read through episodically on Zoom.
