Highway 17 commuters will hopefully be spared the time and inconvenience with the completion of a 19-million dollar highway upgrade project. The tree trimming along with the structural upgrades have made the winding mountain highway a safer commute… according to Caltrans.
Those improvements began in 20-19 and include new pavement, guardrails, widening of narrow shoulders and better markings for intersections on six miles of 17 from
Scotts Valley to the
Santa Clara county line. The funding came from Senate Bill One.. Also known as “the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 20-17.”
An estimated 65-thousand motorists travel Highway 17 daily.
