Scholarship For Cville Student 03-04-21 07:50 S.S.

A  Castroville  teen  has  received  a  scholarship  from  Girls  Inc.    North  Monterey  County  High  School  student  Catalina  Perez  is  just  1  of  3  teens  in  the  nation  to  receive  the  25-thousand  dollar  Suzanna  Patmore  Gibbs  Courage  Scholarship.    Girls Inc.  provides  workshops  for  high  school students....on  topics  such  as  health,  finances, education,  and  career.    The  organization  also provides  resources  and  information.

A  woman’s  picture  has  been  posted  on the  Capitola  Police  Department’s  FaceBook  page.  That  after  she  picked  up  another  person’s  prescription  narcotics  in  Capitola,  without  that  person’s consent  or  even  knowledge.  Anyone  with  information  on  the  fraudster’s  identity  is  encouraged  to  contact  the  Capitola  Police  Department.

Highway 17 Upgrades 3/3/21 08:43 Ci

 

Highway 17 commuters will hopefully  be spared the time and inconvenience with the completion of a 19-million dollar highway upgrade project. The tree trimming along with the structural upgrades have made the winding mountain highway a safer commute… according to Caltrans.

 

Those improvements began in 20-19 and include new pavement, guardrails, widening of narrow shoulders and better markings for intersections on six miles of 17 from

Scotts Valley to the

Santa Clara county line. The funding came from Senate Bill One.. Also known as “the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 20-17.”

An estimated 65-thousand motorists travel Highway 17 daily.

CZU Lightning Complex Fire Info Meetings 03-03-21 17:40 DC

CAL FIRE CZU will be conducting two virtual community meetings to offer a summary of the CZU Lightning Complex fires.

There will be time provided for the community to ask questions.

The meetings will be broadcast via Zoom, and televised on Channel 25 in Santa Cruz County.

The first virtual community meeting takes place from 5:30 to 7:30pm on Monday, March 15, focusing on Santa Cruz County Supervisorial District 3, encompassing Bonny Doon, Davenport, and the North Santa Cruz County Coast. Sutter Health Vaccine Shortage 03-03-21 17:00 DC

Tens of thousands of Sutter Health patients who need a second COVID-19 dose have now received word that their second dose appointments have been canceled.

Sutter Health said a vaccine dose supply shortage means about 40,000 patients with appointments between now and March 9 are being notified that their second dose shot dates need to be rescheduled.

If Sutter does not receive adequate supplies in the coming days, the health care provider said another 50,000 patients are in jeopardy of having their second dose appointments canceled as well.
