San Benito County has now transitioned to California’s MyTurn system for COVID-19 vaccine registration. It is online at myturn.ca.gov.
The MyTurn website allows Californians to register to be notified when they are eligible for the vaccine. The system will soon allow residents to also book a vaccination appointment if they are eligible.
Around 13,500 residents have registered on the county portal. Residents who previously signed up with the San Benito portal will need to register again with MyTurn at myturn.ca.gov.
Residents who registered through the San Benito portal will receive an email tomorrow notifying them of the change. County officials say the transition will not negatively affect their ability to get the vaccine.
San Benito County is currently vaccinating people 65 and older, workers in food and agriculture, education, child care, and emergency services.

Monterey-Salinas Transit says it will give a free day pass to residents who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
To get a pass, riders must show their COVID-19 vaccination card to an MST Customer Service Representative at one of its customer service windows. The pass can be used at any time and are available for each dose received.
MST said it also recognizes that getting to vaccination appointments can be difficult. It says service on its fixed routes is already available to most vaccine clinic locations.

Caltrans crews have continued working on a section of Highway 1 near Rat Creek. It had been washed-out during a storm earlier this year.
CALTRANS spokesperson Jim Shivers said a maintenance blasting team is helping with construction by removing large rocks from the site.
Shivers said work to rebuild the stretch of highway over an engineered compacted soil is continuing, and they expect the road to reopen in early summer.
