CA Sues Nursing Home-3/15/21-1652-PMD

The California attorney general is suing the nation’s largest senior living home operator.  On Monday California joined others in a suit alleging the company misled consumers on quality ratings and broke laws intended to protect patients. The suit centers on 10 California-based skilled nursing facilities operated by Brookdale Senior Living Inc. A Tennessee based corporation.

New Condor Egg-3/15/21-1644-PMD

The Ventana Wildlife Society announced that there is a new California condor egg in the Big Sur area. Its mother, Redwood Queen, laid the egg in the same tree where her chick Iniko survived the Dolan Fire. The Ventana Wildlife Society has set up a camera to monitor the egg. Video footage can be found on their website.

El Rio Stabbing-3/15/21-1640-PMD

Santa Cruz police are investigating a stabbing. The stabbing took place at the El Rio Mobile Home Park located between River Street and the San Lorenzo River Levee Monday morning. Arriving police found the victim of a stab wound. The suspect had left the scene of the assault. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact Salinas Police.

Kristin Smart Case Active-3/15/21-1626-PMD

The 1996 disappearance of 19 year old Elizabeth Smart is still being investigated. Smart went missing from Cal Poly Tech after a party. Police are now using cadaver dogs and radar to search a property belonging to the father of Paul Flores who has been a person of interest since Smart went missing after attending the party with Flores. Flores was recently arrested on weapons charges.

SBC Red Tier 03.15.2021 0545 2 JS

On Sunday, San Benito County moved to the red tier within the state Blueprint for a Safer Economy public health guidelines.

Meanwhile, Monterey County remains under the most restrictions per health guidelines and expects to follow suit with moving to the red tier as early as Wednesday if case counts continue to decline.

As a result of this announcement, San Benito County-based restaurants, movie theaters, museums all can open indoors with 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.
