A  virtual   meeting   was  held  last  night regarding  the  CZU  Lightning  Complex  Fires,  and  another  is  scheduled  for  this  evening.    Tonight’s  virtual  meetings  will  be  held  on Zoom,   from  5:30  to  7:30 p.m.   This  evening's meeting  will  focus  on   FeltonBen  LomondBoulder  CreekZayante  and  Scotts  Valley.

Rent Relief Program 3.15.2021 0815 5 JS

Renters and landlords throughout Santa Cruz County are eligible for more than $16 million in federal funds available to local renters unable to pay their rent and utilities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several trusted local partners have been selected to assist tenants and landlords through the applications process, including Community Bridges, Community Action Board, Families in Transition, California Rural Legal Assistance and United Way 211.

Vaccine Eligibility Opening 03.15.2021 0715 4 JS

Vaccine eligibility guidelines have changed allowing for more Americans to get inoculated.

Starting today (Monday), those 16 to 64 years old with specific high-risk medical conditions can receive the Pfizer, Moderna, or Jannsen vaccine. The list includes:

  • Cancer, current with weakened immune system
  • Chronic kidney disease, stage 4 or above
  • Chronic pulmonary disease, oxygen dependent
  • Down syndrome
  • Solid organ transplant, leading to a weakened immune system
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, or cardiomyopathies (but not hypertension)
  • Severe obesity
  • Type 2 diabetes

Those who work in public transportation and airport sectors are now eligible as well as individuals who work or live in homeless shelters, behavioral health facilities and prisons.

SCruz Co Theft Recovery 03.15.2021 0635 3 JS

Scotts Valley Police Department recently announced the recovery of property that was stolen from a restaurant in that area.

SVPD gives credit to the community for providing information about this case along with a Santa Cruz County Sheriffs Deputy who found the vehicle involved in the restaurant theft.

The vehicle discovered had some of the stolen property and was found abandoned at a shopping center located in Felton.

Property that was found was returned to its rightful owners, and the vehicle involved was a White Mazda B2300.

CHP & Saint Patrick’s-3/15/21-1648-PMD

This St. Patrick’s Day, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) remains on alert for impaired drivers, and CHP joins with the California Office of Traffic Safety in reminding drivers to travel safely. If you chose to celebrate, please do so responsibly by designating a sober driver or making other arrangements to get home safe.” The CHP wants everyone to remember safe driving rules have not changed and that officers will be on the lookout for impaired driving.
