Salinas Domestic Violence-3/22/21-1744-PMD

Salinas police arrested a man following an instance of domestic violence on Sunday. Shortly after 7 p-m a motorist witnessed a domestic dispute near the Northridge Mall. The man attempted to intervene and the male brandished a pistol before fleeing in a car. Officers located the suspected in a store and took him into custody. A pistol was recovered in the produce section of the store.

Mo Co Ag Works Vaccinated-3/22/21-1709-PMD

Monterey county agricultural workers are now about 25 percent inoculated. That figure is according to the Monterey County Farm Bureau and the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California. Farmrworkers in the Salinas Valley were initially among the hardest hit initially by the pandemic. There are more clinics planned for Monterey County farmworkers in the coming weeks, and they will include temporary workers arriving in the county for harvest crews.

K C Shots Fired-3/22/21-1635-PMD

King City police have arrested a minor in connection with a Sunday gun incident. At about 7:45 p-m police responded to the 1 hundred block of Keats Avenue to reports of gunfire. An investigation determined several people were seen fleeing the area after shooting at a fence and out buildings. After reviewing surveillance footage one juvenile was arrested. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact King City police.

Ben Lomond Traffic-3/22/21-1520-PMD

Motorists who use Highway 9 in the Santa Cruz mountains should prepare for overnight road closures in the Ben Lomond area do to road maintenance operations. The closures are from 8 p-m until 5 a-m every night this week until Friday. Parts of Highway 9 will be closed in both directions. Detours will be in place in the area of Lower Glen Arbor Road and various other roadways. Motorists should expect delays of up to 20 minutes.

SCMTD Half Price Fares 3.22.2021 1130 1 JS

Starting today, fare structures have changed for Santa Cruz Metro Transit riders.

Alex Clifford, CEO of S.C. Metro explains.

“Starting today, we have our half and free fare program. This is a program to thank our riders who have hung in with us through the pandemic and to encourage those who have not returned but can return to please come back, and then of course, attract new riders to our system and have them give us a try. For our regular fares, they’ll be half [$1.00 instead of $2.00] and for our discount [senior/disabled] fares they will be free.”, Clifford stated in an interview with KSCO.
