Ramsay Park’s Pumptrack Open 03-23-21 17:04 S.S.

The  new  pumptrack  at  Ramsay  Park  in  Watsonville  is  now  open  to  the  public.    It  will  be  open  to  cyclists  between  sunrise  and  8  p.m.  every  day.    On  the  northside  of  the  pumptrack  there  are  bermsjumps,  and  larger  technical  rollers....while  on  the  southside  the  features  are  smaller,  and  designed  for  younger  users....and  those  who are  new  to  the  sport.

A Local Impact Of Boulder Shooting 03-23-21 15:43 S.S.

Of  the  10  people  shot  and  killed  yesterday  in  Boulder  Colorado,  one  was  the  father  of  the  news  director  of  local  National  Public  Radio  Station  K.A.Z.U.     Erika  Mahoney  announced  her  61  year-old  father’s  death  today.      She  said  that  Kevin  Mahoney  represented  ‘all  things  love’,  and  that  she  ‘was  thankful  he  got  to  walk  her  down  the  aisle  last  summer’,  although  sad  that  he  will  miss  meeting  the  grandchild  with whom she is currently pregnant.     Services  have  not  yet  been  announced  for  Kevin  Mahoney.

Crossing Guards Needed 03-23-21 11:40 S.S.

The  Santa  Cruz  Police  Department  would  like  to  hire  some  new  crossing guards  to  help  kids  cross  the street  to  get  to  school safely.   Crossing  guards  work  from  8  to  9  in  the  morning  and  then  from  12:20  to  2:20 p.m.  on  Mondays,  Tuesdays,  Thursdays  and  Fridays.     People  who  wish  to  submit  applications  are  encouraged  to  do so  on  the  City  Of  Santa  Cruz’  website.

Homeless Encampment Fire (2) 03-23-21 10:59 S.S.

Yesterday’s  fire  in  a  homeless  encampment,  near  the  intersection  of  Highways  1  and  9,  was  the  second  blaze  at  the  encampment  in  a  week.   This  time  an  occupant  was  cooking  food  with an  open  flame  too  close  to  his tent....and  his  neighbor’s  tent.  Both  tents  were  destroyed  by  the  fire  that  also  climbed  a  ways  up  a  nearby  redwood tree.   

Several  propane  cylinders  and  a  car  battery  were  also  melted  by  the  accidental  fire....that  was  on  the  opposite  side  of  the  sound  wall  from   the  coral  street  shelter.  

This  encampment  is  on    the  cal-trans  right-of-way  that  is  expected  to  be  cleared  soon  due  to  expected  roadwork  in  the  area.

Vintage M/C Festival 03-23-21 08:43 S.S.

A  3  year-deal (that  is  being considered)  between the  Monterey  County  Board  Of Supervisors  and   the  American  Historic  Racing  Motorcycle  Association....could  mean  a  “Vintage”  Motorcycle  Festival  being  held  during  the  Weather  Tech  Raceway  Laguna  Seca  season.    Raceway management  dubbed  A.H.R.M.A.  the  “pre-eminent  vintage motorcycle  organization”  in  the  U.S.
