SLVUSD Supe To Retire 03-24-21 10:49 S.S.

A  local  school  superintendent,  who  initially  planned  to  retire  last  year  but  decided  to  stay  on  to  help  her  district  through  the  pandemic,  has  announced  her  retirement.   San  Lorenzo  Valley  Unified  School  District  superintendent  Laurie  Bruton  says  her  last  day  will  be  June  30th  of  this  year.   She  has  worked  in  education  for  35  years. 

The  district  now  begins  its  search  for  a  new  superintendent.....and  that  issue  is  scheduled  to  be  addressed  at  the  next  board  of  education  zoom  meeting,  which  is  scheduled  to  begin  at  4  p.m.  next  Monday.  More information can be found on-line on the  boardagendapackets  and  minutes  page  at:   slvusd.org

SCC MEETS CRITERIA FOR ORANGE 03-24-21 10:33 S.S.

AS  OF  YESTERDAY  SANTA  CRUZ  COUNTY  MEETS  THE CRITERIA  TO  MOVE  INTO  THE ORANGE  TIER.....BUT WILL  HAVE  TO  MAINTAIN  THE  CORRECT  METRICS  TO  ACTUALLY  MOVE  TO  THE  ORANGE  TIER  NEXT  WEEK.  IF  NOTHING  GOES  WRONG,  AND  THE  COUNTY  MOVES  TO  THE  ORANGE  TIER,   MUSEUMS,  ZOOS,  AND AQUARIUMS  WOULD  BE  ABLE  TO  OPEN  INDOORS  AT  50  PERCENT,  AS  WOULD  GYMS  AND  FITNESS  CENTERS  WOULD.  INDOOR  POOLS,  HOT  TUBS,  SAUNAS  AND  STEAM  ROOMS  CAN  RE-OPEN.  AMUSEMENT PARKS  WOULD  BE  ABLE  TO  OPEN  AT  25  PERCENT  CAPACITY  APRIL  1ST;  AND  OUTDOOR  LIVE  EVENTS  WOULD  BE  ABLE  TO  START  BACK  UP  APRIL  1ST  AT  33  PERCENT  CAPACITY.....AND  BARS  (WHERE  NO  MEALS  ARE  SERVED)  WOULD  BE  ABLE  TO  OPEN  OUTDOORS...WITH  MODIFICATIONS.

Drowned Woman ID’d 03-24-21 09:55 S.S.

The  San Jose woman found dead in the surf last week at Santa Cruz’ Main Beach has been identified.  Santa Cruz Police investigators are working to trace 70 year-old Sandra Lee Plymire’s  last  steps  before  she  drowned.  Anyone  with  information  on  this  case is  encouraged  to  contact  the Santa  Cruz  Police  Department.

SC Beach Boardwalk Hiring 03-24-21 08:43 S.S.

The  Seaside  Company,  which  owns  the  Santa  Cruz  Beach  Boardwalk  is  hiring.    They  will  need  to  hire  several  hundred  people  so  they can  operate  rides  when  they  re-open,  which  is  now  scheduled  for  next month.   They  provide  on-the-job  training,  and  employees  get  discounts  on  food  and  can  have  a  flexible  schedule.  There  are  Covid-19  safety  protocols  in-place.  More information  can  be  found  on-line  at:

Wville O-P Dialysis Clinic 03-24-21 07:53 S.S.

An  out-patient  dialysis  center  is  another  step  closer  to  becoming  a  reality  in  Watsonville.    That  after  a  company  has  closed  escrow  on  the  parcels  where  the  more  than  11-thousand  square  foot  clinic  is  planned  to  be  built.....adjacent  to  Watsonville  Community  Hospital.   It’s  also  less  than  a  mile  from  Watsonville  Airport.
