PVUSD Employees Want Hazard Pay 03-25-21 18:52 S.S.

A  number  of  employees  of  the  Pajaro  Valley  Unified  School  District  rallied  today.    The  classified  employees....including  mechanicsbus  driversjanitors  and  food  services  employees  gathered  in  front  of  the  district  offices  to  let  officials  known  that they  want  hazard  pay.   They  said  they  feel  they  should  get  the  same  Covid-19  stipend  as  the  teachers  got.

UPDATE: The 5-Hour Stand-Off Is Over 03-25-21 18:38 S.S.

A  5-hour  stand-off  in  Seaside  has  ended.....with  no  one  in  the  home  that  was  surrounded.     The  stand-off  took  place  on  the  100  block  of  Luzon  Road,  near  Attu  Road  in  the  housing  development  known  as  The  Parks  At  Monterey  Bay.   Residents  were  initially  asked  to  avoid  the  area,  and  that  if  they  lived  nearby  to  stay  away  from  exterior  walls  and  windows.

Former Board President Censured 03-25-21 18:21 S.S.

The  former  board  president  of  the  Pajaro  Valley  Unified  School  District  has  been  censured.    The  board  of  trustees  voted  4-2  to  censure    Georgia  Acosta  for  a  number  of  conduct  issues  that  took  place  during  her  tenure.     The  censure  states.... “Trustee Acosta’s behavior, language, and conduct toward District employees (and the public) failed to meet the professional standards for an elected representative or the minimum standards expected of any District employee or trustee,”

New Business Ctr Launches 03-25-21 17:42 S.S.

A  new  business  center  has  been  launched  in  Watsonville.     The  El  Pajaro  Women’s  Business  Center  is  using  small  business  administration  funds  to  get  off  the  ground.  The  plan  is  for  the  center  to  provide  opportunities  to  local  female  entrepreneurs.     El  Pajaro  will  join  a  network  of  136  centers  around  the  nation   that  offer  one-on-one  counseling,  training,  workshops,  networking, technical  assistance,  and  mentoring.

Veterans/Spouses/Caregivers 03-25-21 16:47 S.S.

Veterans,  their  spouses,  and  their  caregivers,  will  soon  be  able  to  get  inoculated  for  Covid-19  if  they  want.      That’s  based  on  the  Save  Lives  Act  legislation  that  President  Biden signed  into  law  today.      The act  allows  veterans  to  get  a  vaccine  regardless  of  their  healthcare  eligibility, enrollment,  or  service status.    The  same  goes  for  the  veteran’s  spouse  and/or  caregiver.    These  people  can  now  register  through  the  Palo Alto  V.A.  By  either  going  on-line,  or  calling  (650)  496-2535.
