MBAQ To Re-Open In May 03-30-21 10:26 S.S.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is now scheduled to re-open to the public in mid-May....with members being able to visit for the 2 weeks prior to that. To limit the number of people inside the aquarium at any one time, people will need to reserve tickets for a specific date and entry time. Guests will also need to wear facial coverings that cover their mouth and nose....and there will be a 1-way path through the aquarium. For now, some of the play areas will be closed, and feedings, and auditorium programs have been cancelled for now. Starting April 26th, members will be able to reserve tickets for may 1st through 14th.....and the Monterey Bay Aquarium will re-open to the public starting May 15th.

Missing Felton Man 03-30-21 09:34 S.S.

The public’s assistance is being sought in helping to find a missing at-risk Felton man. 33 year-old Alex Miller was last seen around 2 a.m. on the 74-hundred block of East Zayante Road. He is 6 feet tall, and was last seen wearing gray long-johns with no shirt or shoes. People who see Alex Miller, who is considered at-risk due to a mental condition, are encouraged to call the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.

Fire In The Sky Returns 03-30-21 08:41 S.S.

The Watsonville airport event known as “Fire In The Sky” is expected to return this year....in September not July. The event, which is usually held on the 4th of July, will (this year) be celebrated on September 4th (on Labor Day weekend). The Watsonville Airport open house includes antique planes on display, flyovers, parachute landings, and a fireworks show. Annually, 5 to 8-thousand people generall y attend the Watsonville Airport event.

Although that’s the current plan, it could be changed....as the Airport has every expectation of following CDC, state, and county health guidelines

Year-Round Wildland Firefighters 03-30-21 07:41 S.S.

The agencies that provide wildfire workforce are being asked to transition their agencies and workers to year-round work. That’s because such blazes no longer see m to be occurring just during certain months of the year. The change would mean the reclassification of seasonal firefighter positions from seasonal to permanent. The request came after last year’s more than 9,900 fires, that burned 4.25 million acres, killed 33 people and destroyed nearly 10,500 homes and other buildings.

Covid-19 Food And Farm Workers 03-30-21 07:41 S.S.

Free hotel rooms are being offered to some Monter ey county farm and food processing workers. Those rooms, and other amenities, are available to those who have, or might have, Covid-19. The Housing for Harvest program offers free hotel rooms, meals, transportation, wellness checks, financial assistance for 2 weeks....as well a s providing support for the worker’s family back at home. Workers will not be asked about immigration status, and all working information will, remain confidential.
